The Righteous Rush is a Jamaican born unsigned singer / songwriter / audio engineer / graphic artist / composer / producer of an ethiopian decent and heritage. Born to devoted christian parents yet Rush grew up listening to a cultural mix of music from all over the world which attributes to his flexibility in composing and writing his tracks. As a child of the island Jamaica, it was almost inevitable that he’d be drawn to reggae, Rastafari, and the natural mystic of music that they together inhabit themselves in his music and his soul. “The music I heard growing up from my parents, family and the places we visited gave me a lot of musical and cultural flexibility.” “Everything I’ve ever heard blends together in what I do hence becoming major influences.” Righteous has been pursuing a career in music since the year 2000 officially as a part of a group called Full Suit. It was only after some minor productions and promotions that it had to come to an end due to some illness occurring with one of the group's members. After breaking up with the group in 2004 he has been on his musical journey, solo. He's been singing since a tender age in church choirs and various school events. He is constantly defined by his peers and associates as being a musical genius, and indeed those terms are in no exaggeration as he also plays various instruments of which he has never been tutored. Although dancehall/reggae deejays (rappers) must be lyrically tough, unleashing rapid-fire guns in the ghetto rhymes and inflated sexual boastings, dancehall singers can attain great popularity sensitively cooing about a new found love, melodically lamenting a love for life and emotionally conveying other oh-so tender concerns of the world and things gone wrong. The sensual, honeyed vocals of The Rush has always made him favorable of all he encountered along his musical journey. A versatile sing-jay style vocalist with a soft, subtle tone, he is capable of both rapid-fire chatting and powerful yet melodic singing. He writes of hard issues which face our world today as well as songs you can get up and dance to, to ease your mind off it all. The reggae/dancehall industry in Jamaica is a hard "cut-throat" business, one which offers little opportunity for young upcoming talents and entertainers due to the centralization brought onto it by other made artists and producers and DJ's. Though not being able to land a deal or signing, he has still managed to keep recording fresh new productions as time passes, which makes him just as integral in the industry as any one else in the business. He has had the pleasure of working with great and legendary entertainers in the business such as Cocoa Tea, Oneil Famous Little John, Johnny P, Terror Fabulous, Baby Wayne, Grinds-man, Admiral Tibet, the legendary drummer Carlton Barrett and Bob Marley's Lead guitarist Earl "Chinna" Smith amongst many others.
